What is Shared Computer Activation (SCA) for Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, and Visio Pro for Microsoft 365?

Shared Computer Activation (SCA) is a product activation mode that allows multiple Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, and Visio Pro for Microsoft 365 users to share the same hardware. Microsoft 365 is licensed per user, so SCA helps ensure that users accessing Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, and Visio Pro for Microsoft 365 are licensed appropriately. With this mode, Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, and Visio Pro for Microsoft 365 natively support RDS scenarios and it is no longer necessary to install MSI software as a workaround. SCA can be enabled in the following deployment scenarios: • Customer dedicated self-hosted (on-premise) • Windows Azure environment • Dedicated third-party hosted Multi-tenant third-party hosted scenarios are now permitted for shared computer activation (SCA) through qualified cloud partners that meet certain criteria.

What Microsoft 365 versions support Shared Computer Activation?

Shared Computer Activation mode works with Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, and Visio Pro for Microsoft 365. All Microsoft 365 plans that include Microsoft 365 ProPlus, Project for Microsoft 365, or Visio Pro for Microsoft 365 are able to use Shared Computer Activation.
