New Zealand Airline Pilots’ Association
How did Mercury IT help the New Zealand Airline Pilots’ Association (NZALPA) to develop a solid plan for the future of their IT systems?
NZALPA was founded in 1945 and is an internationally affiliated professional association and trade union that represents around 2,000 New Zealand pilots and air traffic controllers.
NZALPA was experiencing growth and needed to know how well their current IT systems and processes were meeting their business needs. Mercury was engaged to complete a review of their business software and carry out a technical audit, with the expectation the resulting report would feed into a 5 year IT plan for the organisation.
Mercury IT looked at the businesses requirements at a high level and made an assessment of how well current systems and processes were meeting NZALPA's needs.
- A technical audit of servers and network.
- Interviews with key staff / stakeholders
- Interviews with IT service providers
- Using automated tools to gather information about network characteristics and issues.
Mercury presented the report to a meeting of key NZALPA people which was a good forum for discussing recommendations and the reasoning behind them. The report included recommendations on IT governance and management.
We followed up with NZALPA a year later to see how they went, Virginia Mudie, General Manager at NZALPA said: “We found Mercury’s work useful for focusing attention on prioritising our efforts. We have now endorsed the 5 year IT plan and have completed the first of the priority projects".
We asked Virginia for some feedback on us and she had the following to say: “We found Mercury professional and easy to work with. I would be happy to recommend Mercury for this type of IT consulting assignment”.
We jump at the chance to help an organisation plan for the future and deal with their IT challenges, so if you have an IT need then get in contact so we can add your success story the list!
