New Zealand Planning Institute
How did Mercury IT help the New Zealand Planning Institute to make the right call on their membership systems?
Established in 1949 NZPI is the professional organisation representing planners, resource managers, urban designers, and environmental practitioners in New Zealand. NZPI makes great use of technology, with a small team they provide support services to over 2,000 members.
NZPI engaged Mercury to review their systems. Susan Houston, Chief Executive Officer at NZPI said “We are continuing to invest in systems to support our members. I wanted to be sure we are on the right track.”
Mercury worked with key NZPI staff to look at how the various systems in use operated and how well they meet the business requirements.
Two key recommendations we made were:
- A change of technology to a key system, allowing more self-sufficiency and more responsiveness in meeting member needs.
- Engagement with existing suppliers to improve integration of systems, to make it easier for members to access the online tools provided.
When we asked Susan for feedback on the assignment she had the following to say “Mercury’s recommendations made sense. Having a clear picture of the issues that could trip us up in future made it easier for me to make the decisions around adopting a technology that I was already familiar with and to set out some key integration requirements with one of our key IT suppliers. I would happily recommend Mercury for this type of IT review”.
